About
On a pleasant spring morning in January 2023, Azad Kishan Patel, co-owner of Chai Pila Food and Beverages Private Limited (Chai Pila), reviewed the company’s recent financial statement. The statement made Azad happy but not entirely content. The company was growing, but his goal seemed elusive.
Chai Pila, a quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain Cafe, was a start-up based in Surat, Gujarat, India. It sold various types of Chai and Fast-food. The restaurant’s specialty was a delicious Tea prepared to suit Indian tea lovers. Chai Pila was founded with an initial investment of just ₹7 million in August 2021 by Azad Patel and his two friends Support and now had 16 outlets spread across 4 cities.
He Got This Thought While He Was Sitting Across the Street in His Car and Saw a Tapriwalla (A Local Tea Vendor) Selling Tea in A Hipflask Hopping from Shop to Shop, Person to Person Giving a Big Shout-Out Asking Them to Have a Hot Cup of Tea. What Stuck Azad’s Mind Was Hygiene.
He Asked Himself, Why Can’t A 10 Rupees Chai Be Sold With The Same Rate In A Hygiene Manner As The Renowned Café? And Thought of Doing It Himself. He Started His Research by Speaking to Every Tea Vendor and Tea Consumer Around Him and Found Out;
“When You Are Drinking Tea, It Is Basically a Private Conversation Between the Tea and Your Individual Soul,”
Azad remembered the founders’ dream to make their product for all classes and to create an iconic Indian brand that they could take abroad.
